Who is at high risk for diabetes

The epidemiological findings of diabetes in China in 2008: the prevalence of type 2 diabetes among people aged 20 and above in China was 9.7%; the epidemiological findings of diabetes in China in 2010: the prevalence of diabetes among adults nationwide was 11.6%; in 2013, the International Diabetes Federation announced that the number of people with diabetes in China was 98.4 million, ranking first in the world. Diabetes is closely related to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and diabetic patients with no intervention or long-term poor control are prone to complications of stroke, coronary heart disease, kidney disease, blindness, foot ulceration and amputation, and it seriously endangers our health. What kind of people among us are vulnerable to diabetes? In what ways can we prevent diabetes? Adults with any one or more of the following risk factors can be defined as a population susceptible to diabetes and should be taken seriously, and we should also prevent diabetes from these aspects. 1. A history of impaired glucose regulation. Explanation: Fasting blood glucose of 6.1-7.0 mmol/L, or 2 hours postprandial blood glucose of 7.8-11.1 mmol/L. 2. First-degree relatives of diabetic patients. 3.Age is 40 years old and above. 4.Overweight or central obesity (abdominal circumference of 90 cm and above for men, 85 cm and above for women) 5.People with hypertension. 6.People with dyslipidemia. 7, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease people. 8, other: sedentary lifestyle; history of delivery of large children; severe mental illness and or long-term treatment of antidepressants, etc. The above-mentioned people should pay enough attention to diabetes, and it is recommended that they should be screened for diabetes once a year and eliminate some of the above reversible factors by improving their lifestyles. Diabetes is scary, but as long as enough attention is paid to it and timely medical interventions are made, complications can be prevented or delayed, and there should not be too much “panic” and mental burden.
