Can minimally invasive surgery be performed for rectal tumors?

Rectal tumors refer to rectal adenomas, and the possibility of minimally invasive surgery depends on the size of the rectal adenoma and the condition of the base. The size of the tumor, whether the base is broad-based or tipped, and how mobile it is can be further described by e-colonoscopy. If the rectal adenoma is relatively mobile and tipped, the adenoma can be removed by direct microscopic ligation. If the base is wide and the mobility is not too good, it is difficult to treat this rectal adenoma with minimally invasive surgery. Moreover, pathology should be done after surgery to further clarify the nature of the adenoma and whether it is cancerous. For adenomas with a wide base and poor mobility, open surgery or laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery is usually chosen over transanal minimally invasive surgery.
