Frequent “late-night snacking” susceptible to stomach cancer

For many people, eating late night snacks has become a natural habit, especially for young people who stay up late to eat late night snacks is commonplace. In recent years, the incidence of gastric cancer tends to be younger and younger, which is closely related to the living habits of young people nowadays, according to the analysis of Dr. Xia Shijin, the director of the Chinese Medicine Hall of the First People’s Hospital, people who stay up late often have irregular life and overload their bodies. Long-term, this will lead to gastrointestinal discomfort, indigestion and other problems, and then induce stomach cancer. ”The risk of cancer is often caused by “late-night snackers”. When summer comes, street restaurants and roadside stalls are often crowded at night, and even the “late-night snackers” will continue their revelry until the next morning. The next day, the “party” will continue until one or two o’clock. Most of the “snackers” are office workers, as young office workers now like to stay up late, or leave work so late that the three meals are not regular, will often eat late at night. Such bad eating habits can cause damage to the stomach and even induce stomach cancer. Stomach cancer is one of the most common digestive tract tumors in China. According to the statistics of World Health Organization, the incidence rate of stomach cancer in China ranks second in the world after Japan, and the number of patients accounts for 42% of the total number of stomach cancer patients worldwide. In the traditional concept, people always think that malignant tumor is a common disease of the elderly and has nothing to do with young people, but recent research data shows that the incidence of stomach cancer has been showing a younger trend year by year. Why is frequent late night snacking prone to stomach cancer? Why is frequent late night snacking easy to trigger stomach cancer? Director Xia Shijin pointed out that late night snacking is very harmful to the stomach, and the life span of gastric mucosal epithelial cells is very short, about 2-3 days to regenerate and renew. This regeneration and repair process is usually carried out at night when the gastrointestinal tract is resting. If you often eat at night, the gastrointestinal tract still needs to operate and secrete gastric juice to digest food, the repair of its mucosa is difficult to proceed smoothly. In addition, Director Xia also told reporters that after eating late night sleep, food will stay in the stomach for a longer time, can promote the secretion of gastric juice, causing a long period of stimulation of the gastric mucosa. Over time, it will lead to gastric mucosa erosion, ulcers and weakened resistance. “If the food contains carcinogenic substances, such as fried, barbecued and pan-fried foods, it is more likely to cause adverse effects on the gastric mucosa, which in turn leads to gastric cancer.” Expert advice: do not eat within two hours before bedtime “Frequent late-night snacking not only has the possibility of causing cancer, but also triggers diabetes, obesity and many other diseases.” Director Xia reminded that the diet must be regular, especially do not eat at 11 or 12 o’clock at night or within two hours before bedtime; try to eat less spicy food and barbecue, etc. People who often eat at night should be vigilant if they have symptoms such as bloating, bad appetite, abdominal pain, indigestion, etc., and should not ignore them, nor should they buy a few pills from pharmacies to survive, because these symptoms may be one of the early manifestations of gastrointestinal cancers such as esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, liver cancer, colorectal cancer, etc.
