The effects of buspirone are slow, usually taking 1 to 4 weeks .
Buspirone is an anxiolytic that can be used for a variety of anxiety disorders, especially for chronic anxiety with symptoms of fear or depression. The mechanism of action is feedback inhibition of 5-HT release, reducing some of the excessive activity of anxiety patients, resulting in anxiolytic effects. However, the drug has a slow onset of action, and the anxiolytic effect is usually produced only after 1 to 4 weeks. The dose can be gradually increased during the course of the medication, but it must be taken under the supervision of a doctor.
