How is cataract surgery done?

【Abstract】Objective To investigate the effect of cataract ultrasound emulsification on the morphological changes of corneal endothelial cells (CEC). Methods In a self-controlled study, 50 cases (50 eyes) underwent cataract ultrasound emulsification combined with IOL implantation, and the CEC in 5 quadrants at the central, 12, 3, 6 and 9 points of the cornea before and after surgery with a corneal endothelial microscope (CSM), and 5 regions in each quadrant (central-C, superior-S, temporal-T, nasal-N, inferior-I), for a total of 25 locations, were photographed and images Merging. Calculate the common parameters of CSM after image digitization, and new parameters: cell fractionation ratio, cell edge length variation, angle variation, and dark area. The parameters were compared between each quadrant and the central zone. RESULTS: At 12 mon postoperatively, cell density (CD) (preoperative 2854 ± 290 cells/mm2, postoperative 2035 ± 150 cells/mm2) and mean cell area (Save) (preoperative 351 ± 29 μm2, postoperative 606 ± 59 μm2) were statistically significantly different before and after surgery (all P < 0.01). Hexagonal cell ratio (HEX) (3.5 ± 4.2% preoperatively, 61.2 ± 3.7% postoperatively), hexagonal cell side length variation (Ev) (19.7 ± 2.5% preoperatively, 20.2 ± 2.2% postoperatively), hexagonal cell angle variation (Av) (158.4 ± 27.5° preoperatively, 155.3 ± 19.1° postoperatively), polygon cell ratio (12.3 ± 2.7% preoperatively) The number of CEC dark areas (0.31 ± 0.14 preoperatively, 0.83 ± 0.25 postoperatively) and the area of dark areas (81.3 ± 55.2 preoperatively, 5.7 ± 2.4% postoperatively) were not significantly different before and after surgery (all P > 0.05). 244.9 ± 131.6) were different before and after surgery (all P < 0.01). The above parameters were different at 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock, and 9 o'clock compared with the central zone parameters (all P < 0.01). Conclusion: The CEC was not completely reaveraged over a longer period of time after cataract surgery, and a multi-quadrant multi-point analysis was used to better reflect the characteristics of the whole corneal CEC.
