The statement “Cirrhosis patients can take Fuzheng Huayu Capsules” is not accurate. Cirrhosis is equivalent to “accumulation” and “bulging” in Chinese medicine. Patients with liver, spleen and blood stasis can take Fuzheng Huayu Capsule, but it is not a cure. Cirrhosis of the liver is the name of the disease in western medicine, common abdominal discomfort, fatigue, jaundice, loss of appetite, abdominal distension and other symptoms. It belongs to the category of “accumulation” and “bulging” in Chinese medicine. Causes of the disease include evil and poisonous attack, dietary disorders, emotional disorders (emotional disorders), and weakness from prolonged illnesses. According to TCM diagnosis, these patients can be categorized into liver and spleen blood stasis, liver depression and dampness obstruction, liver yin insufficiency, stagnant heat and yellowish nodules, spleen and kidney yang deficiency (deficiency of yang qi in the spleen and kidneys), and other syndromes. Fuzheng Huayu Capsule is composed of Salvia miltiorrhiza, peach kernel, gynostemma, schizandra and other drugs. The main effects are to activate blood circulation, dispel blood stasis, benefit essence and nourish the liver. It mainly treats the symptoms of blood stasis and obstruction of collaterals, deficiency of liver and kidney (weakness of liver and kidney). Therefore, it has therapeutic effect on cirrhosis of the liver with symptoms such as distension and tingling of the ribs, aggravated by exertion or emotional discomfort, easy to fatigue, lumps under the coils, dark complexion, and petechiae on the tongue. This drug is contraindicated in pregnant women, and should be used with caution in people with heavy dampness-heat, and adverse reactions of stomach upset may occur after taking it.
