A child with a cough should be seen immediately in a pediatric clinic. The main causes of coughing symptoms are respiratory diseases, pleural diseases, cardiovascular diseases and other diseases. Treatment includes medication such as cefixime and surgery.
1. Respiratory diseases: respiratory tract infection is the most common cause, and drugs such as cefixime and other anti-infective treatments are needed. Cough caused by laryngeal cancer and lung tumor can be treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and those with surgical indication can be treated with surgery.
2. Pleural disease: primary pleurisy needs to take antibacterial or anti-tuberculosis treatment for the cause. The pleural effusion secondary to tumor should be treated actively. Spontaneous pneumothorax can be treated with surgery if conservative treatment is ineffective.
3. Cardiovascular disease: cough caused by left heart failure is treated symptomatically with drugs, often diuretic, vasodilator, symptomatic improvement and other treatments. When drug control is not satisfactory, cardiac resynchronization therapy can be performed after excluding contraindications.
If the cough is severe, the patient should consult a doctor immediately, undergo relevant examinations, clarify the cause of the cough, and treat it aggressively. All of the above medications should be used under the guidance of a doctor.
