What is the survival period of lung cancer after initial surgery?

Patients can survive for a long time after early stage lung cancer surgery, that is, they can achieve radical cure. Because early stage lung cancer refers to tumor less than 3cm, no hilar lymph node metastasis, mediastinal lymph node metastasis and even no supraclavicular lymph node metastasis. At this time, it is the so-called stage I lung cancer. After surgical resection of stage I lung cancer, the 5-year survival rate of patients is over 80%, that is, about 80% of patients may survive for more than 5 years, and even 10 or 20 years are completely possible. Of course, close follow-up, that is, regular lung CT, bone scan and other examinations are needed to exclude the possibility of local recurrence and distant metastasis. Therefore, if patients in the early stage of lung cancer can tolerate surgery, they should try to adopt surgical resection so as to achieve long-term survival.
