Foods that calm the mind

Lotus seed, longan meat, Poria and jujube have the effect of tranquilizing the mind and are medicinal foods. 1. Lotus seed: It can nourish the spleen to stop diarrhea, stop diarrhea, benefit the kidneys and astringent essence, and nourish the heart to tranquilize the mind (by nourishing the heart to stabilize the mind). It is used for diarrhea due to spleen deficiency (diarrhea caused by a weak spleen), diarrhea, spermatorrhea, palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic) and insomnia. It should not be taken if there is fullness and plumpness in the middle or if the stools are dry and knotty. 2. Longan Meat: It can tonify the heart and spleen (tonifying the heart and spleen with tonic drugs), nourish the blood and calm the mind (stabilizing the mind and soothing the emotions by nourishing the blood). It is used for deficiency of Qi and Blood, palpitations and dizziness (violent heartbeat and panic attacks), forgetfulness and insomnia, and blood deficiency and atrophy. It is not recommended for those who have phlegm and fire within the body, or those who have stagnation of dampness and stoppage of drinking (water stays in the body). 3. Poria: It can promote water retention and seepage of dampness (promote the flow of water to dispel dampness), strengthen the spleen, and tranquilize the heart. It can be used for edema and low urine output, phlegm-drinking and vertigo-palpitations (vertigo and palpitations caused by phlegm-drinking and evil qi), spleen deficiency with low food intake, loose stools, diarrhea, restlessness of mind and spirit, palpitations and insomnia. Yin deficiency without dampness and heat, cold and slippery semen, qi deficiency and subsidence should be taken with caution. 4. Jujube: It can tonify the middle and benefit the qi (treating qi deficiency by tonifying the spleen), nourish blood and tranquilize the mind. It is used for spleen deficiency with low food intake, loose stools in fatigue, and dirty agitation in women (upset and depression, sadness and wanting to cry for no reason). It is not suitable for those who have dampness, phlegm, stagnation, tooth disease or worms. Food therapy is not as good as medicine, so if you have symptoms of insomnia, it is recommended to be treated under the guidance of a doctor.
