The presence of fibroids or adenomyomas in the uterine wall is a normal result of ultrasound imaging. Women will not experience any discomfort. If they do not experience lower abdominal pain, they can have their uterus re-examined in 3-6 months to see if there are any further changes, as fibroids can occur in women of childbearing age and are associated with increased levels of estrogen in the female body. Adenomyoma occurs mainly due to the immersion of the endometrium into the muscular layer, and women may experience menstrual pain during their periods.
