18 months old baby can not walk cerebral palsy chances are big

Babies who do not walk at 18 months and have abnormally low muscle tone and low IQ have a higher chance of cerebral palsy. The normal growth and development of a baby starts walking around the age of 1 week. If the baby does not walk at 18 months of age, this indicates a delay in growth and development. If the baby has high risk factors before, during or after birth, such as prematurity, low birth weight, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, hypoglycemia, multiple births, in vitro fertilization, etc. If the baby does not walk and has abnormally low muscle strength and tone of the limbs, the body resembles soft spaghetti, has low intelligence, the feet are pointed, the arches collapse, the feet are turned out, the lower limbs are stiff and scissor-like crossed, or the muscles of the lower limbs cannot be supported, the possibility of cerebral palsy is higher. In addition to cerebral palsy, if an 18-month-old baby cannot walk, it is also considered to be related to rickets and backward motor development, and it is recommended to go to the pediatric department for differential diagnosis in a timely manner. If it is confirmed that the baby cannot walk at 18 months due to cerebral palsy, comprehensive rehabilitation treatment is needed to improve the muscle tone state of the limbs and induce normal motor function using mechanical and physical treatment methods.
