How to Adjust Blood Pressure

Adjustment of blood pressure is primarily regulated using non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic methods, with most patients requiring both methods to be given. Non-pharmacological treatment is through therapeutic lifestyle modification, including controlling body weight in the normal range, increasing exercise, reducing sodium intake, reducing fat intake, eating fresh vegetables and fruits every day, quitting smoking and limiting alcohol, keeping a calm mind and avoiding mood swings. For some patients with grade 1 hypertension, blood pressure can be normalized through non-pharmacological treatment, thus eliminating the need for blood pressure-lowering drugs. Pharmacological treatment mainly adopts clinical first-line blood pressure-lowering drugs, such as diuretics, β-blockers, calcium channel blockers, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor antagonists, which are reasonably selected according to the specific conditions of patients, and the blood pressure will be controlled in the long term to reach the standard.
