In this article, experts offer advice on how men can improve their lifestyles.
Gentlemen, take care of your health, and the sooner you start, the better.
Steven Lamm, MD, medical director of the Preston Robert Tisch Center for Men’s Health at NYU Langone Medical Center, says, “Men need to focus on whole-body health.”
Here are Dr. Steven’s top 10 recommendations for men’s health.
Find a doctor
“You should choose a doctor that you feel comfortable with,” says Dr. Steven, “so that you can have an open and honest discussion about all aspects of health, from mental state to sexual function to overall health.”
Visit the doctor
Maybe you feel good about your health and thus refuse to go to the hospital. So please don’t ignore problems like black stools, loss of vision, or chest pain. Unfortunately, men tend to ignore these problems.
Knowing the body
Maybe you do want to know how your body is doing and understand that you should not ignore some symptoms or illnesses. But remember that you cannot self-diagnose.
Change your workout
When you do the same workout all the time, your body automatically adapts to it, so keep changing up your workouts. And, the intensity of the cardio, muscle training, and stretching exercises you choose must be appropriate for your age.
Eating healthy
Dr. Steven says, “Eat healthy more than anything else except sleep, and please focus on consuming nutrients rather than calories, and eat more healthy and nutritious foods.”
Prioritize sleep
Sleeping at least seven hours a day is something that cannot be compromised. “Men think they can compensate for sleep deprivation by exercising or other means,” which Dr. Stevens doesn’t think is a good idea.
Get a mental checkup
Mental health is indeed very important. Consider the following: Are you drinking too much? Are you watching for signs of depressive disorder or bipolar disorder that are often overlooked? If there is a family history of mental illness, suicide, or substance abuse, someone needs to check your signs and symptoms.
Prepare for sex
Stress, lack of sleep, or excessive alcohol consumption can cause you to be unable to get an erection when you need it. A man’s erection is a barometer of his overall health, and exercising, eating healthy, and sleeping well are the best ways to make sure men perform well in the bedroom.
Focus on the prostate
The prostate gland proliferates as we age, and men basically experience urinary problems and more. A truly healthy, low-fat diet reduces the likelihood of prostate enlargement and may lower the risk of prostate cancer.
Enjoy life
Enjoy the beauty of each day and do something for yourself every day, whether it’s running, listening to an audiobook, practicing meditation or yoga, and trying to have some hobbies for yourself.
