Symptoms of perforated eardrum

The eardrum is a translucent, oval shaped membrane. It is located at the point where the external ear canal and middle ear tympanic chamber meet. When the eardrum is perforated due to trauma or otitis, it is often accompanied by a broken eardrum, bleeding pus, and deafness. 1. Rupture of the eardrum. It is a symptom that will definitely occur with a perforated eardrum. This is a painful sensation in the ear first, and this pain will be slowly relieved when the eardrum is perforated and broken. The eardrum breakage usually occurs in a relatively small area, and only some people will have a full breakage of the eardrum after the piercing or only a small part of it will remain. 2. Bleeding from pus. Its appearance indicates that the eardrum perforation is more serious. Most of them are caused by trauma and the eardrum will be congested and edematous, bleeding at the mucosal location. It may also be accompanied by pus flow in cases of secondary infection. 3. Deafness. When the eardrum is broken, the person’s hearing will be reduced and tinnitus will occur. Combined with pus flow and bleeding, the ear is prone to deafness. This type of deafness is usually conductive in nature. Only a few people will experience neurological, mixed deafness. After an eardrum perforation, it is recommended that you choose to visit a hospital for examination in a timely manner. After all, the eardrum determines the hearing that affects a person. This is especially true because of acute inflammation that occurs in the ear location causing perforation of the eardrum.
