Minimally invasive kidney-sparing treatment of small endogenous tumors of the kidney

A 51-year-old lady, without any symptoms, was found to have a 1.8 cm endogenous-type tumor in her right kidney on physical examination. She came to Shanghai Ruijin Hospital, and the surgical team of urology department, Shen Zhoujun, after a comprehensive examination and precise positioning, used da Vinci robotic equipment to remove the tumor, which was hidden in the deep part of the kidney, completely and thoroughly. The right kidney was preserved intact. Prof. Shen Zhoujun has personally completed more than 470 robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgeries of various complexities, and is one of the experts with the most completed cases in urology surgery in China, and has accumulated relatively rich surgical experience. Some of the surgeries have been more innovative. He has been a speaker at domestic and international conferences, such as the “Annual Meeting of the Chinese Urological Society”.
