Cuscuta, Dioscorea, and Yam all belong to Chinese medicine, and all three have completely different effects. Cuscuta chinensis can tonify the liver and kidneys, consolidate semen and urine, and prevent leakage of semen and urine; Dioscorea chinensis can clear away heat and dampness (removing heat and dampness in the body), dispel wind and stop itching (stopping itching by removing the wind that invades the surface of the body); and Chinese yam can benefit the qi and strengthen the spleen (regulating the qi of the spleen and stomach). Cuscuta chinensis can be used clinically to tonify the liver and kidneys, consolidate essence and reduce urination, pacify the fetus, brighten the eyes, and stop diarrhea, targeting mainly lumbar and knee soreness (a feeling of soreness and weakness in the waist and knees), impotence, spermatorrhea, and urinary loss and frequent urination caused by deficiency of the liver and kidneys (weakness of the liver and kidneys), fetal leakage (small amount of bleeding from the vagina in the early stage of pregnancy), and fetal restlessness caused by kidney deficiency; and diarrhea caused by deficiency of the spleen. Cuscuta is not suitable for people with yin deficiency (deficiency of yin and essence in the body and hyperactive fire), dry stools, and short and red urine (small amount of urine with dark yellow color). While the role of diza in the clinic to clear heat and relieve dampness, dispel wind and stop itching, mainly for the yin itching with lower, rubella, eczema, skin itching, hot lymph (burning stinging pain obvious when urinating, with frequent urination, small abdominal tract discomfort) astringent pain and so on. The contraindications of the drug are not clear. In clinical practice, yam can benefit qi and nourish yin (tonifying qi and yin), tonify the spleen, lungs and kidneys, astringent and stopping the diaphoresis, targeting mainly the deficiency of the spleen caused by low food intake, loose stools, excessive leucorrhea, as well as the deficiency of the kidneys caused by spermatorrhea and diaphoresis. Yam can help dampness, and should not be used by people with dampness (too much dampness leading to fullness and discomfort in the spleen and stomach) or with stagnation. It is recommended to take Cuscuta, Dioscorea and Yam under the guidance of a doctor to avoid any adverse reaction or delay of the condition.
