Which department treats hernias?

Hernias are surgical in nature and are usually disposed of by general surgery. A hernia is the departure of an organ or part of an organ from its normal anatomical position in the body, possibly due to tissue weakness or abnormally increased pressure in the lumen, and is classified clinically as a surgical condition. Most common hernias are abdominal wall hernias, which require a visit to the general surgery department for disposal; less common hiatal hernias of the esophagus can be seen and disposed of in the general or thoracic surgery department; however, critical brain hernias require a visit to the emergency department, neurosurgery, for resuscitation. Some children can also develop hernias, commonly inguinal hernias, which can be treated in pediatric surgery. Since surgical treatment is required to cure hernias, they can only be treated in the appropriate surgical department. Some hospitals may have a separate hernia surgery department due to their specialized departments, so abdominal wall hernias and esophageal hiatal hernias can be seen and treated in this department. If the hernia is more serious, it is important to go to the hospital surgery department in a timely manner to make a clear diagnosis and cooperate with the doctor for treatment.
