There is no evidence-based proof that Xiaoqinglongtang can damage the stomach, and there are no relevant clinical reports. The two drugs have different effects and may conflict, which may result in adverse effects, and the combination of the two drugs should be used in accordance with the doctor’s instructions. Si Reverse Tang and Xiao Qing Long Tang are two different TCM formulas, the former warms the middle and dispels cold, while the latter is pungent and warm to relieve the symptoms, warm the lungs and dissolve fluid (by warming the lungs to promote the flow of stagnant fluid). There are no clinical reports of damage to the spleen and stomach associated with Si Reverse Tang and Xiao Qing Long Tang. Due to their different efficacies, the use of these two remedies should be guided by a Chinese medicine practitioner. 1. Si Reverse Tang is composed of Radix et Rhizoma Polygoni Multiflori, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae Praeparatae, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae Praeparatae, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae Dry Ginger, which can warm the middle Jiao, dispel cold, and restore yang to save the body from reversal (restore yang qi). It is used in the treatment of cold sweating with a weak pulse, and yang deficiency with desire to be taken off (a critical illness that is mainly characterized by cold sweating, palpitation, and chest pain). 2. Xiaoqinglong Tang is composed of ephedra, paeoniae lactiflora, fine pungent extract, dry ginger, etc. It has the efficacy of detoxifying and dispersing cold (removing cold from the surface of the muscle), warming the lungs and resolving drinks, and is mainly used for treating the symptoms of external cold and internal drinks, such as cough and wheezing, lack of sweating, cold (fear of cold) and fever, pain in the head and body, dryness and vomiting, and swelling of head, face, and limbs, etc. Adverse reactions, contraindications and precautions of this formula are not yet clear. Four Reverse Soup and Xiaoqinglong Tang need to be applied after the diagnosis by a Chinese medicine practitioner, and should not be used on one’s own.
