Molluscum contagiosum is an acute purulent inflammation of the sebaceous glands or lid glands near the eyelash follicles. It is an acute purulent inflammation of the Zeis gland (Zeis gland). It starts with limited congestion and swelling at the lid margin and forms a hard node after 2 to 3 days, with significant pain and pressure. In severe cases, systemic symptoms such as chills and fever may be present. This is because the inflamed lid gland is surrounded by firm lid tissue, and the yellow pus is often exposed on the surface of the congested lid conjunctiva, which may break through and drain into the conjunctival sac. If the lid fails to break through and the virulence of the disease is strong, the inflammation expands and invades the entire lid tissue, forming an eyelid abscess.
