It is not the same thing, and there are some differences in symptoms, etiology and treatment methods.
1. Different etiology: ACL injury is the occurrence of congestion and edema of the cruciate ligament, while cruciate ligament rupture refers to the interruption of the continuity of the ligament.
2. Symptoms are different: after an ACL injury, patients will have pain and swelling in the knee joint, and the patient’s knee joint can be properly moved without joint loosening and instability. If the anterior cruciate ligament rupture, the patient feels that there is serious cut-like pain in the knee joint area, and the swelling is obvious, there is subcutaneous bruising, and the patient appears to have obvious instability of knee joint loosening.
3. Different treatment methods.
(1) As the integrity of the anterior cruciate ligament tear still exists, most of the patients are treated conservatively, such as immobilizing the ligament with a brace, and then gradually start bending knee exercises to restore the function of the ligament.
(2) Anterior cruciate ligament rupture, as the ligament has completely lost its connection, usually requires surgical treatment to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament in order to restore the integrity and continuity of the ligament, and after the surgery, with the use of a brace for immobilization, and rehabilitation training, such as knee bending exercises, quadriceps exercises and so on, in order to restore the range of motion and function of the knee joint.
It is recommended that the patient should consult the doctor in time, and under the guidance of professional doctors, make individualized training program to get the best recovery effect, and avoid the adverse consequences of secondary injury.
