Prostate Cancer Treatment Options

Once diagnosed, early stage prostate cancer patients are recommended to be treated with surgery first, and then with corresponding endocrine therapy after surgery. If the patient has already had multiple metastases, radiotherapy, endocrine therapy, chemotherapy and other single or combined treatments are recommended.
1. Early stage of prostate cancer: In early stage of prostate cancer, the tumor is still confined within the peritoneum of the prostate, and radical prostatectomy is the first choice in this case. After surgery, further drug treatment (mainly endocrine therapy) can be carried out according to the results of pathological examination. Some patients can also adopt localized treatment such as external/internal radiation therapy, cryoablation or HIFU knife.
2. Advanced stage of prostate cancer: if the patient has already had multiple metastases throughout the body, it is recommended that radiotherapy, endocrine therapy, chemotherapy and other single or combined treatments are the mainstay; in addition, it is necessary to improve the patient’s symptoms and enhance the quality of survival, such as improving urination, relieving pain, and so on.
Overall, there are many treatment options for prostate cancer patients, which need to be combined with the specific conditions of the patients and choose the appropriate treatment plan under the guidance of doctors.
