Dirty agitation is a type of depression, which is referred to as “dirty agitation” and “plum nucleus qi (similar to pharyngeal hypersensitivity)” in The Essentials of the Golden Chamber by Zhang Zhongjing, and can be treated with Ganmai Dazao Tang and Hanxia Houpu Tang.
Dirty agitation is mostly intermittent under the stimulation of mental factors, and may manifest as restlessness, emotional instability, easy to cry, easy to anger, easy to be agitated, and sometimes inactive, but the mind is clear, with self-control, and will not injure oneself or others.
If there are signs of agitation, it is recommended to go to the hospital as soon as possible to avoid delaying the condition.
