How long does a 19 year old with myocarditis usually live?

How long a 19 year old can live after having myocarditis cannot be determined; partial or complete recovery may be possible, but survival time cannot be determined due to individual differences and the type of myocarditis. Studies have shown that most patients with acute myocarditis recover, with myocardial inflammation resolving on its own and recovery times ranging from a few days to a few months [1]. Violent myocarditis is relatively rare and critical, often leading to heart failure, severe arrhythmias, and even sudden cardiac death, but the long-term prognosis is generally favorable once the acute danger phase is over. Myocarditis is an inflammation of the myocardium caused by infections, etc., and occurs in acute and fulminant forms. Survival of patients with myocarditis correlates with initial clinical symptoms (including chest pain, heart failure such as dyspnea and edema, and arrhythmias such as sinus tachycardia and atrial fibrillation), such as a cardiac ejection fraction of <40%, and immunoglobulin positivity correlates with a 10-year survival rate of <40% [2]. If patients are diagnosed with myocarditis, regular follow-up is recommended at least every 6 months to prevent the possibility of secondary dilated cardiomyopathy in some patients, and to visit the cardiology department of the hospital and follow the treatment prescribed by the doctor.
