Tips for summer dwarf visits

In order to facilitate parents’ consultation, Dr. Liang has prepared a summer dwarf consultation strategy for parents, which is a must-read before the consultation, and hopefully it can help you save time and consult the doctor as soon as possible.

I. Information to be prepared for the consultation

Child’s condition

(1) Before and after birth

Medical history during pregnancy, history of smoking and alcohol, number of births, number of deliveries

Gestational age, mode of delivery, length, weight, presence of asphyxia and deformity

(2) Psychological factors

(3) Feeding and appetite

(4) Records of previous height measurements

Family members

(1) Height of parents and other members in the family

(2) Parents’ history of pubertal development

II. What routine tests are needed

C. The significance of each examination

A. Physical examination: preliminary screening of the child’s height and weight within the normal range, the signs, to provide a basis for further examination

B. Bone age film: the age of the bones to determine whether it is consistent with the actual height, and the growth space

C, growth hormone stimulation test and endocrine hormone measurement: to determine the patient’s growth hormone level and whether there is a chronic disease, which is very important to confirm the cause of the disease

D. Chromosome examination: When the clinician suspects that the patient’s short stature is related to chromosomal abnormalities, the patient’s chromosomes will be examined.

E. Cranial MRI: A test is needed to rule out that the patient’s growth abnormalities are related to the pituitary gland.

IV. Notice for consultation

1.Patients should come to the clinic in person.

2.If you have taken bone age film in other hospitals, please bring the bone age film (no report).
