What are the effects and contraindications of telmisartan?

Timosartan is mainly used in the antihypertensive treatment of hypertension, and is contraindicated in people who are allergic to the drug, or have hepatic or renal insufficiency. Timosartan belongs to the angiotensin receptor antagonist, i.e. ARB class of drugs. The main role is to treat primary hypertension in adults and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. It can be used as an alternative choice for patients who cannot tolerate angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) class of drugs. Contraindications to telmisartan include hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnant and breastfeeding women, patients with obstructive biliary tract disease, severe hepatic insufficiency, and those with severe renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance <30 ml/min). There may be allergy, palpitation, dependent swelling, angina pectoris, tachycardia, insomnia, constipation, gastritis, vomiting, gout, high blood cholesterol, and other adverse reactions after using the drug.
