There are more reasons for babies to have a hard lump behind the ear, and the common ones are enlarged lymph nodes, folliculitis, dermatoid cysts and so on, as follows:
1. Enlarged lymph nodes: when the lymph nodes are infected by bacteria or viruses, you can feel the harder bumps on the body surface. Usually the mobility is large and accompanied by pain. Antiviral medications should be used under a doctor’s supervision.
2. Folliculitis: Folliculitis is mostly caused by bacterial or viral infections, and the main clinical manifestation is the appearance of red bumps on the surface of the body, accompanied by a burning sensation and pain.
3. Dermatoid cyst: it is a congenital disease caused by abnormal development of skin tissues, which belongs to benign tumors, mostly seen in infants. The lumps can move and grow slowly. They can be treated by surgery and are not easy to recur after surgery.
Parents are advised to take the patient to the hospital in time to clarify the cause and then carry out targeted treatment.
