Cataracts are curable blindness, and most blind people with cataracts can be restored to near-normal vision through cataract surgery.
Surgery is the main treatment for all kinds of cataracts. Currently, the following surgical methods are commonly used to treat cataracts: (1) ultrasonic cataract aspiration and IOL implantation; (2) small incision cataract extraction and IOL implantation; (3) modern cataract extracapsular extraction and IOL implantation. Cataract intracapsular extraction has been rarely used, and only used in areas and units that do not have the conditions for extracapsular extraction.
