Why TB needs to be treated for six months

Tuberculosis requires six months of treatment or a longer course of treatment because of the pathogenic characteristics of tuberculosis bacteria and the possibility of drug-resistant bacteria. The bacteria in the tuberculosis lesions are divided into four groups, which are generally called A, B, C and D groups in the clinic, in which the anti-tuberculosis drugs kill only the A group in the early stage, while the B and C groups are close to the dormant bacteria, and therefore are not easy to be killed by anti-tuberculosis drugs. The B and C groups can be kept for several months or years, and wake up again, so to kill this kind of group of bacteria, the course of treatment will be relatively long. The second is that tuberculosis bacteria are prone to drug resistance, if the infection of drug-resistant tuberculosis bacteria, the course of treatment for these patients is often more than half a year, it may be up to 1 to 2 years. The treatment of TB must follow early, regular, and combined drug therapy. Commonly used include isoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide, ethambutol. And the course of treatment is relatively long, can not be stopped in the middle of the drug, otherwise it will be relapsed or drug-resistant. Drugs should be used under the guidance of a professional physician, and should not be used arbitrarily.
