Causes of facial edema

The causes of facial edema are as follows: 1. Nephrogenic edema, such as nephrotic syndrome, patients mostly show generalized edema, while eyelid and facial edema are more significant, and can be accompanied by a large amount of proteinuria and increased cholesterol. Patients with nephrogenic edema may have morning edema of the eyelids and face, and the degree of edema is mild to moderate, and may be accompanied by hypertension, especially a significant increase in diastolic blood pressure. 2. Patients with dermatomyositis may also present with non-depressed facial edema, but the edema around the orbits is more typical.3. Allergic reactions, mostly urticaria, usually with a history of allergy, with sudden onset of edema.4. Hypothyroidism, patients may present with facial and hand and foot edema, mostly non-depressed mucinous edema.
