Freckles is a pigment disorder skin disease mainly manifested by facial spots, most of them have genetic predisposition, and sunlight can promote and aggravate this disease. Removal methods of freckles on boys’ face include laser treatment, drug treatment, freezing treatment and so on. Among them, laser treatment is the first choice, and other methods are rarely used in clinic.
1. Laser treatment: laser treatment of freckles is based on the principle of selective photothermal effect, using laser with wavelength, pulse width and suitable energy to make pigment particles instantly burst without damaging nearby tissues and reducing the possibility of scarring. The treatment cannot prevent recurrence and should be strictly protected from sunlight after the operation. Commonly used lasers are frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser, ruby laser, IPL intense pulse laser and so on.
2. medication: patients with light freckle color can use medication. 30%~35% trichloroacetic acid solution or phenol spot-coating can locally corrode the spots and make the local epidermis of the spots peel off to achieve the therapeutic purpose, but some patients may suffer from scarring or pigmentation disorders. 3% hydroquinone cream and 0.05% retinoic acid cream can also reduce the freckle color.
3. Freezing treatment: liquid nitrogen can be used to freeze isolated and deeply pigmented lesions, but freezing treatment may cause hypopigmentation or scarring.
