Dermoid cysts are congenital disorders that occur in infants and children, most of which are detected before the age of 5 years, with a higher incidence in girls compared to boys.
Dermoid cysts are congenital cystic teratomas that are often located under the skin, but may also be found under the mucous membranes or inside internal organs. Dermoid cysts are typically characterized by a painless subcutaneous mass, usually without significant discomfort. They are often found around the eyes and are most likely to occur in infants and children.
If the dermatoid cyst is small and does not present with significant symptoms, it usually does not require special treatment. However, if the patient is experiencing more significant discomfort or aesthetic concerns, the cyst can be evaluated by a doctor and then surgically removed.
