The treatment of hunchback can be done through primary treatment, conservative treatment, correction of deformity and corrective exercises, etc. There is no such thing as “simple treatment for hunchback”, and it should be decided according to the patient’s specific situation. 1. Treatment for primary disease: In children and adolescents, those with clear causes should focus on treating the primary disease to reduce the degree of thoracic deformity. The treatment includes anti-tuberculosis treatment, anti-rickets treatment, and active treatment of pleural primary diseases to reduce pleural adhesion. 2. Conservative treatment: Conservative treatment is the mainstay, patients should lie on hard board beds, try to stretch the chest and back when standing and sitting, and maintain good posture. Avoid excessive bending or weight-bearing activities, and at the same time, strengthen the back muscle exercise to limit the aggravation of kyphosis. 3. Correcting deformity: If the thoracic kyphosis is large, more than 50°, the deformity can be corrected by bracing or plaster fixation. The use of passive immobilization to correct the deformity should be closely watched for complications, such as soft tissue injury, overcorrection, and concomitant scoliosis, etc. The duration of immobilization in a brace or cast should not be too short. The duration of immobilization with brace or plaster should not be less than 1 year. 4. Corrective exercises, the purpose is to strengthen the strength of the back extensor muscles and pull the ligaments in front of the chest. It is important to note that if the patient has a hunchback manifestation, should go to the hospital in a timely manner to find out the cause of the disease, active treatment, so as not to delay the condition.
