Thin basement membrane nephropathy may present with proteinuria. Thin basement membrane nephropathy (TBMN) is a hereditary nephropathy with persistent microscopic hematuria as the main manifestation, also known as benign familial hematuria (BFH) or benign recurrent hematuria (BRH). Clinically, in addition to hematuria, it can also manifest proteinuria, hypertension, etc. 45%~60% of adult patients combined with mild proteinuria, but a few patients can manifest massive proteinuria or even nephrotic syndrome. Most of the patients with thin basement membrane nephropathy have benign glomerular disease process and have good prognosis. If combined with hypertension, they should take blood pressure lowering drugs such as captopril under the guidance of physician to actively control blood pressure. Patients with thin basement membrane nephropathy are advised to go to regular hospitals for timely consultation and standardized treatment under the guidance of doctors.
