What should I do if my right ear seems to be blocked?

The right ear seems to be blocked, mostly due to catarrhal otitis media and cerumen embolism. Catarrhal otitis media is most often seen in upper respiratory tract infections. In upper respiratory tract infections, the eustachian tube in the nasopharynx becomes congested and swollen, causing negative pressure in the tympanic chamber due to the inability of air to enter the chamber. On examination, the tympanic membrane is seen to be congested, invaginated and poorly mobile. Treatment requires active treatment of upper respiratory tract infection, cefprozil, prednisone, etc., and nasal spray of tretinoin or 1% furosemide nasal drops. The disease will be effectively controlled in about a week of treatment and the right ear blockage will improve until it is cured. For ear blockage caused by cerumen, removing the cerumen is sufficient.
