What to do with elevated CA125 after endometrial cancer surgery

Serum CA125 level generally varies with the condition of endometrial cancer, persistent elevation after operation may suggest tumor recurrence or metastasis, postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy should be performed, and it is recommended to go to hospital for treatment as soon as possible. 1. Local recurrence of endometrial cancer: if the recurrence site has not been radiotherapy, external irradiation and/or brachytherapy of the recurrence site is preferred; if the recurrence site has been radiotherapy and only brachytherapy has been radiotherapy, surgical exploration and resection can be chosen. 2. Distant metastasis of endometrial cancer: for isolated lesions, surgical exploratory resection and/or external irradiation or ablation + chemotherapy ± hormone therapy are feasible; for extensive metastasis with clinical symptoms or large tumors or ER/PR negative, chemotherapy ± palliative radiotherapy is recommended. In addition, those with positive estrogen receptor (ER)/progesterone receptor (PR) or asymptomatic or low-grade tumors can be treated with hormone therapy, and progression of the disease should be treated with chemotherapy or palliative therapy. Elevated CA125 after endometrial cancer surgery suggests that the condition may change, and one should go to the hospital as soon as possible to improve the examination and early treatment.
