Don’t take antibiotics as a snack

As the saying goes, “Food is the order of the day”, and when it comes to good food, we all want to eat enough at once. But if you eat too much, or gastrointestinal function is not good, it is likely to indigestion. The food tablets and hawthorn pills can not only relieve the symptoms, but also have a better taste, so some people eat them after every meal. This not only can not fundamentally improve the digestive function, but also hurt the stomach. First of all, it should be clear that the long-term indigestion, only taking digestive tablets has a very limited effect. Patients with indigestion often present with belching and bloating, which should be taken seriously if they are recurrent for a long time. Because the symptoms of digestive system diseases lack specificity and many serious diseases can manifest similar symptoms, indiscriminate consumption of antibiotics may delay the early diagnosis and proper treatment of the disease. It is recommended that those who often feel gastrointestinal discomfort visit a hospital, undergo gastroscopy and other examinations under the guidance of a doctor if necessary, and choose the appropriate medication. Secondly, hawthorn is sour in taste, which can increase gastric acid secretion and help digestion of fatty foods, and is the main ingredient of stomachic and appetite tablets and large hawthorn pills. Although sour taste can promote appetite, it may also increase acidity in the stomach, so patients with acid-related diseases such as peptic ulcer and gastroesophageal reflux disease should take these drugs with caution. Chinese medicine considers hawthorn to be hot, and children with digestive problems who take antibiotics as sugar pills may easily develop internal heat if they eat too much. From a western medical point of view, hawthorn contains more tannic acid, which can easily form insoluble precipitates with stomach acid and cause gastric stones. Finally, the good taste of this type of antibiotic is related to its addition of honey, cane sugar and other excipients, which should be used with caution by diabetics. Eating too sweet for a long time can also affect the function of the digestive system. It is recommended to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and less foods with high fat content to improve symptoms such as indigestion.
