In our daily life, we may encounter some people who faint suddenly, some who are partially paralyzed, and some who have speech and intellectual impairment, all of which are brain infarcts at work. Cerebral infarction refers to ischemic necrosis or softening of restricted brain tissue caused by impaired blood supply to the brain, ischemia and hypoxia. This shows how terrible brain infarction is, but there is also a type of brain infarction that does not feel anything, namely lacunar cerebral infarction, whose abbreviation is lacunar infarction, which is a type of brain infarction. Luminal cerebral infarction generally refers to cerebral infarction less than 15mm, and the causes of lacunar cerebral infarction are similar to those of cerebral infarction with obvious symptoms. They also include: hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, smoking, heavy alcohol consumption, obesity, heart disease, vascular disease and other risk factors. Lacunar cerebral infarction belongs to cranial capillary lesions, large blood vessels are still open, brain cells can work normally, clinical symptoms are mild, and most patients are asymptomatic. Although the lesions of lacunar cerebral infarction are mild, they cannot be ignored for two reasons: 1. If lacunar cerebral infarction occurs in a non-critical area, such as the deep part of the brain, there may be little symptoms, but if it occurs in a critical area, such as the internal capsule or brainstem, it may have serious consequences. For example, one side of the body is paralyzed and cannot move, etc. If it happens in the brainstem, more problems will occur, and it may even be life-threatening. 2. If lacunar cerebral infarction is multiple, even if there are no typical symptoms such as hemiparesis and aphasia, it can cause memory loss, slower reaction and other cognitive function decrements. Therefore, when asymptomatic lacunar cerebral infarction is found, one should carefully search for one’s risk factors and strictly control them to avoid more serious consequences. Therefore, attention should also be paid to lacunar cerebral infarction by controlling blood pressure, blood sugar and blood lipids; quitting smoking and alcohol, exercising daily, controlling weight, treating heart disease and other problems, and taking oral aspirin and statins if there are indications.
