If a woman develops edema during pregnancy, it needs to be judged on a case-by-case basis. If the edema appears before 20 weeks of pregnancy, it means that there may be a previous presence of kidney disease, only that pregnancy aggravates this condition, and there may be a positive urine test for protein in the urine routine. If the edema appears after 20 weeks of pregnancy, it may be an abnormality caused by pregnancy, and this abnormality includes the following two aspects: first, the edema of pregnancy that appears with abnormal metabolism of progesterone and estrogen, it is not accompanied by abnormal protein in the urine routine, nor is it accompanied by hypertension, and this edema can disappear quickly after the delivery period. Secondly, it is called gestational hypertension syndrome with increased protein in urine and possibly with abnormal protein in blood and hypertension, which is a kidney disease that can be significantly relieved after delivery, but it takes a certain amount of time, about 3-6 months, to get well completely.
