The Foot Sanli point is an acupoint on the Stomach meridian. In the lower leg, it is located 3 inches below the eye of the outer knee and 1 transverse finger outside the anterior ridge of the tibia. The Foot Sanli point is a conjunction point of the Foot Yangming Stomach meridian, and is also a lower conjunction point of the stomach. The localization of the Foot Sanli is based on the calf’s nose point and the decubitus point as reference. The calf’s nose point is in the anterior region of the knee, in the lateral depression of the patellar ligament, often referred to as the external knee eye. The Xiexi point is in the ankle area, in the depression directly in front of the ankle joint, where shoelaces are usually tied. The foot Sanli is on the outside of the calf, also on the line between the calf’s nose point and the Xiexi point. Find the calf’s nose first, then 3 inches down. Then find the anterior ridge of the tibia, 1 transverse finger outward, and combine the two, that is the exact location of the Foot Sanli point. The needling operation needs to be performed by a medical professional.
