Hypospadias is one of the most common congenital urethral disorders that can occur in both sexes, the majority being seen in males, and is a common condition in pediatric urology. It is a common condition in pediatric urology. Parents usually visit the hospital after the child is born with a penile deformity. Hypospadias is mainly manifested by atresia of the front end of the glans and the opening of the urethra on the ventral side of the penis or the perineum; the penis is bent downward, so the urine line is not forward but downward or backward when urinating, wetting the clothes and pants; the ventral foreskin is absent, the dorsal foreskin cap-like accumulation, and the foreskin does not wrap the head of the penis. The subtypes are penile head type, coronal groove type, penile body type, penile scrotum type, scrotum type, and perineum type. The more posterior the location of the external urethral opening, the more severe the symptoms. In some men, hypospadias is combined with micropenis, scrotal split, and cryptorchidism. Hypospadias should be distinguished from hermaphroditism and simple hypospadias. The dangers of hypospadias are: downward urinary line, wetting of clothes and pants, causing inconvenience to life; serious impact on children’s psychological health and growth; pulling of the fiber band affects the normal development of the penis; after adulthood, due to the downward curvature of the penis, it cannot lead a normal sexual life and affects fertility. Therefore, we should pay enough attention to hypospadias and treat it as soon as possible. Surgery is the only way to treat hypospadias. Surgery can be performed at the age of 6 to 18 months, not later than 3 years old, in order not to affect the psychological health of the child. The purpose of the surgery is to straighten the penis and correct the downward curvature; to reconstruct the urethra so that the external opening of the urethra is in the front of the glans and to urinate from the front of the glans; and to reshape the foreskin and the head of the penis to make it look as perfect as possible. Most hypospadias surgeries can be completed in one visit, while a few severe cases can be operated in stages. There are many surgical methods and the procedure needs to be determined on a case-by-case basis. The efficacy of the surgery is certain.
