Hypospadias is generally typed according to the location of the urethral orifice and is divided into distal, intermediate and proximal types as shown in the figure below. It is also classified as 4 degrees in order. However, it should be understood that this is only a general typing marker and does not represent the actual severity or difficulty of surgery. Special types include: hypospadias without hypospadias, giant urethral orifice with normal prepuce, and congenital urethral fistula.
