How to see “kidney deficiency”

Recently, some patients always come to the clinic to see “kidney deficiency” or ask to check “how much kidney deficiency”? So if you have kidney disease, must it be “kidney deficiency”? First of all: the “kidney” in Chinese medicine refers to the function, such as “the kidney is the main water, the main essence”, which is equivalent to the function of the urinary system and reproductive system in Western medicine, and also includes part of the function of the endocrine system. The “kidney” in Western medicine refers only to the kidneys, which are the main part of the urinary system and the main excretory organ of the body. Secondly, “kidney deficiency” is a type of dialectical evidence in Chinese medicine, which can be “different diseases with the same evidence”. For example, for a patient with kidney disease, the doctor can argue for “kidney deficiency”, but a patient with chronic bronchitis can also argue for “kidney deficiency”, they are two different diseases. Likewise, the same kidney disease patient, in different stages of the disease, can also appear different evidence, not necessarily for “kidney deficiency”, this is called “different treatment of the same disease”. Finally, we remind patients that they must be clear about the cause of the disease, do not think that “kidney deficiency” must be “kidney disease”, similarly, “spleen deficiency” is not necessarily “spleen disease”. “Only targeted treatment for the disease is meaningful.
