Treatment of functional constipation

1, a healthy diet: drink more water, eat more fiber-rich whole wheat bread, green leafy vegetables and fruits 2, training good bowel habits: morning after waking up and after eating breakfast colon activity is most active, the colon high amplitude propulsive contraction to promote defecation. Therefore, after breakfast to sit quietly on the potty for 15 to 20 minutes will be able to successfully defecate. Defecation is a reflex action. Children can be trained to develop the habit of defecation, such as can not be faster defecation, do not chastise, and do not squat for a long time, so as not to cause rectal prolapse or defecation inhibition. 3, drug treatment: for fecal impaction, can be used to open the plug (the composition of glycerin) anal enema. Can also occasionally use a small piece of soap bar (moistened with water) inserted into the anus to stimulate defecation. In general, when constipation occurs, the colon is full of hard stool, so medication can be taken to cleanse the intestines. Commonly used osmotic laxatives (lactulose, etc.) can play a role in cleansing the intestinal tract. Next, the medication needs to be adhered to to consolidate the effect. The course of treatment is usually long, taking at least a month, gradually achieving daily discharge of soft and formed stools. The key to constipation treatment is not to let the stool build up again and restart the vicious cycle it once was, so this treatment often takes 6 months or more until the strength of the colon is restored to the point where it can pass stool on its own. Most children and parents have a hard time sticking with this treatment for this long, and sometimes it takes multiple attempts to completely resolve the constipation problem.
