Prothrombin time mainly detects exogenous coagulation abnormality, and prothrombin time mainly detects the total coagulation status in the body.
1. The normal range of prothrombin time is 11~13 seconds, if the prothrombin time exceeds the normal control by more than 3 seconds has clinical significance.
Prolonged prothrombin time is commonly seen in exogenous coagulation pathway related coagulation factor insufficiency or deficiency, but also in vitamin K deficiency, severe liver disease or oral anticoagulation with warfarin. Shortening suggests that the body is in a hypercoagulable state and prone to thrombotic disease.
2. The normal range of plasma prothrombin time by manual method is 16~18 seconds, and it is prolonged if it exceeds the normal control value by more than 3 seconds. Prolongation is often seen in DIC, heparin therapy, SLE and liver disease.
Specific disease diagnosis and treatment needs to be under the supervision of a physician.
