Cataracts are also known as clouding of the lens. Inside the human eye is a colorless, clear structure similar to the lens of a camera called the lens. Its function is to focus the image of an object on the retina. When the transparency of the lens decreases for various reasons (congenital, traumatic, age-related, and sequelae of various diseases – such as diabetes), the image that enters the eye is obstructed, and this is called a cataract, which means that what is commonly referred to as a black eye turns white in the pupil area. The symptoms of cataracts are mainly blurred vision and loss of vision, but even if you are blind you should have a sense of light, that is, be able to distinguish between day and night.
