What medications to take for bacterial colds

The majority of colds are viral infections and only a few are bacterial infections, so it is important to identify them before using medication. Bacterial colds can be treated with antibiotics, such as penicillin for hemolytic streptococcus, while for fever with nasal congestion, sore throat and swelling, symptomatic treatment should be given in a timely manner. For fever, headache, muscle pain, you can give antipyretic and analgesic drugs, such as aspirin, acetaminophen, anti-inflammatory pain, ibuprofen and so on; for nasal mucous membrane congestion, edema can be used pseudoephedrine, can also be used chlorphenamine maleate or benadryl; for sore throat, you can use Jianmin throat tablets or traditional Chinese medicine six Shen Wan and so on for oral administration. This is good for the overall symptom relief. At the same time, we should pay attention to timely rest, drink more water, and keep the indoor air flowing smoothly. For milder cases, the disease is self-limiting for about a week, and most of them can be completely cured. However, elderly patients should pay special attention to the fact that if they have more underlying diseases, it is easier to induce bronchitis and acute exacerbation of severe COPD, as well as induce cardiac insufficiency, which will have more serious consequences.
