What are the side effects of taking Valium?

The generic name of Valium tablets is diazepam, and the common side effects of diazepam are drowsiness, dizziness, and fatigue; overdose can lead to ataxia (uncoordinated body movements, abnormal body balance posture gait, speech disorders, etc.) or tremor (manifested as rhythmic, alternating oscillatory motions), and long-term use can lead to dependence and addiction, and sudden discontinuation of the drug can lead to emotional agitation or depression.
Diazepam is used primarily as an anxiolytic, antiepileptic, anticonvulsant, sedative and sleeping agent, and also for the treatment of relief of inflammation-induced reflex muscle spasms, panic disorder, myalgic tension headache, familial or geriatric idiopathic tremor, and for administration prior to anesthesia.
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to diazepam or other benzodiazepines; use caution in patients with severe acute ethanol intoxication, myasthenia gravis, acute or occult angle-closure glaucoma, hypoproteinemia, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, ADHD, prolonged bedriddenness, and history of substance abuse and addictions; contraindicated in pregnant and breastfeeding women; and administered with caution in children and elderly patients.
Patients are advised to consult a medical professional before using Diazepam and to follow the doctor’s instructions.
