Where is the intravascular cannula inserted in the kidney stone surgery

After kidney stone surgery, a ureteral stent tube will be placed in the body. The length of the ureteral stent tube is about 25-30cm, one end of which is placed in the kidney, and then the other end is left in the bladder after the full length of the ureter, and both ends are curved so that it can be fixed in the body and will not be discharged with urine. After kidney stone surgery, a ureteral stent tube should be placed to support and drainage, to prevent congestion and edema of the mucous membrane after surgery, resulting in a large amount of fluid in the kidney and acute back pain, difficulty in urination or signs of local infection and edema. The majority of patients do not experience any discomfort during the indwelling ureter. Patients can live a normal life without foreign body sensation. However, in a small number of patients, infection, pain, hematuria, etc. may be present during the indwelling ureteral stent. Some patients can also experience significant urinary tract irritation, causing frequent urination, urgency or back pain. Patients with these symptoms should have their ureteral stent tubes removed as soon as possible.
