U.S. study finds green tea helps fight bladder cancer

According to Xinhua News Agency, May 20 (Xinhua), researchers at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine have recently found that drinking green tea not only has a variety of benefits for the body, but also helps prevent and treat bladder cancer. Researchers announced the findings at the annual meeting of the American Urological Association. Green tea is very high in antioxidants called catechol, which can inhibit the activity of oxygen free radicals in the body and can inhibit the formation of highly carcinogenic nitroso compounds. This substance can not only play a complementary role in the treatment of many diseases, but also can inhibit the growth of tumors, especially in the prevention and treatment of bladder cancer has a significant role. Researchers have used catechol against bladder cancer cells and found that some of the components of the catechol family can destroy or kill bladder cancer cells. The amount of catechol used by the researchers in their experiments was equivalent to the amount of catechol in green tea consumed by the average person in a day.
