Chemical peel procedure risks

There are two common chemical peels on the market, fruit acid peels and salicylic acid peels, that is, for skin defects, first break and then stand, through chemical reagents to destroy the skin at a certain depth, with the body’s own repair and self-shaping ability, so that the corresponding level of skin tissue to repair again, in order to adjust the skin quality, restore the normal appearance of the skin purpose. The specific risks of the procedure are as follows: 1. pigmentation: rarely occurs in superficial peels, but more often occurs in medium to deep peels, and has a certain relationship with individual skin quality; 2. persistent erythema: erythema after peels is not uncommon, but most of the erythema after superficial peels will fade within a few days. Persistent erythema can be treated with a medium-acting corticosteroid ointment and used daily until it improves; 3. Keloid scarring: a common complication of medium and deep peels. However, keloids are rare unless the patient is a keloid, which is a very important part of the preoperative evaluation; 4. Infection: uncommon, and if infection occurs, most are superficial bacterial infections or herpes simplex recurrences. Bacterial infections are usually due to improper postoperative care. The operator informs the patient in detail about the correct care and gives proper instructions, which can usually be avoided; 5. Eye injury: Eye injury may occur during treatment. Careful operation can reduce the occurrence of damage, and protective eye ointment and eye shields can be used when necessary.
